More Sidewalks, Less Fast-food

Unfortunately, Knox County has a high rate of diabetes and it is the 8th leading cause of death in Knox County.  13% of Tennesseans have diabetes and 20% don’t know they have diabetes.  38% or 1.5 million Tennesseans have prediabetes.  Near the end of the article, Ms. Nelson referred to Type II diabetes as a reversible condition.  When I drive around Knox County, I see a lot of fast-food restaurants and not a lot of sidewalks.  Some parts of Knox County are very pedestrian friendly but many are not.  As your HD 89 Representative, I hope to make the district more pedestrian friendly, enhance the community to promote outdoor activities and make sure we don’t get overwhelmed with busy roads boarded by fast-food chains.  Let’s reverse the diabetes death statistic in HD89!!!
